This course has opened my eyes to what technology is out there and how it can be effectively used. There is so much I will take from the class and actually use! I thoroughly enjoyed this course. I will have the upcoming Christmas break to play with the web 2.0 tools more and go deeper in it and then use in the classroom, at school and in my private life. Some of my favorite “things” that I learned was the Wiki’s, exploring Flickr, using Google docs and creating a power point presentation with pictures from Flickr. In future all my new knowledge will save me a lot of time as I learned to find/get information in a short time instead doing research for hours.
Classroom 2.0 was interesting to look at und to read. This was one of those “things” that took much longer than I thought because there are so much interesting things to read, it is almost overwhelming. I really liked the sharing of ideas and people asking specific questions about information they needed. I can see how a forum like this would be useful for me to get new ideas or help in a particular area. The educational networking has endless information, a great way to connect us all and share ideas.
Setting up in the teacher page flakes was just as fun. It is easy to express your own individuality, have fun and receive information all at the same time. Everything is on one page – blogs, post casts, weather and so on. It would save so much time just visiting your snowflake rather than having to research the websites every time or going to your favorites and your google reader. The possibilities are endless.
That was easy. Google doc is a great way to get several people to answer, respond and collaborate on the same document. I see lots of ways and opportunities to use this at our school and even with the teacher I work with. Thank you for introducing us to this tool.
I had fun with YouTube even though I have been occasionally using it anyway! I watched 2 videos that could possibly help parents who don’t speak German at all, to learn a little bit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COmudejPswA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHgiXx1FEhs
I found a video about learning how to make juniper Berry infusion (against cold) that I really liked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhhJcFg54Nc
For fun I found these two, as I love tis music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdThqTY8YBg&feature=PlayList&p=D4640A15EC3DB0FC&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=3 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWm8-jlddaw
At Teacher tube there is lots of interesting material, but so far I didn’t find anything what would be really useful for a classroom where kids are learning the German Language.
Making a podcast was an exciting experience, that has the potential to be used in many different ways. The hardest thing about making this podcast seems to be following directions, in the beginning I struggled with it. With careful planning, using a podcast to enhance learning would be beneficial. In kindergarten the students could show how much they have learned about a topic and share it.
This was my first experience with podcasting. I did just stick to the early childhood podcasts from Grazr and added them to my Google Reader. I do love the show Super Why. I also had no idea that you could get podcasts on Google Reader. The possibilites for using podcasts in the classroom seem endless. Encouraging educators to see the value in using this way to create more learning experiences is something that I would like to do in the classroom and at our school.
Delicious is a good way to save your favorite websites and it is also a good way to see which sites are popular buy the number of people who saved them. The drawback is that you must have a Yahoo account, so one more email address. The advantage of the Delicious system is that is accessible. I imported all my bookmarks, but if you want to delete some, you have to do it one by one and that is really time consuming.
I have never heard before of this website and it is really interesting what you can do with it. As I like to read books I might use it to get new suggestions or to find a specific book. It is also great that you can find books in other languages. It would be a nice idea to catalog all the children books and picture books we have, because those are hundreds. I think I would use this site more for personal use than professionally.
Reading the blog “Smart Classroom Management” , I only can say, I totally agree what Michael Linsin is writing. http://www.smartclassroommanagement.com/2009/10/31/how-to-get-students-to-stay-seated-and-quiet-in-time-out/ When a child is sent to time ou,t it has to understand how to behave and why and also why it is in timeout, which rule it doesn’t follow and why we have this rule, also be consequent in what you are saying and doing.
